Is payroll included in the $8?
Yes. RosterMates runs payroll for New Zealand employers at no extra cost: PAYE, KiwiSaver, ESCT and student loan, payslips by email, a bank batch file to pay your team, and IRD payday filing. It's all in the $8 per employee per month. If you'd rather keep your current payroll system, RosterMates exports to Xero, PayHero, Smartly, iPayroll and Crystal at the same price.
Can I use RosterMates just for payroll?
Yes. The Payroll Only plan is $1.50 per employee per month with a $15 minimum, which covers up to 10 staff, and the price is the same whether you pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly. It includes pay runs with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ESCT and student loan, payslips by email, a bank batch file and IRD payday filing. Rostering, time clocks and leave requests are in the $8 Everything plan, which you can move to at any time.
How does billing work?
We bill monthly based on your active employee count. Prices are shown in NZD and you can toggle between ex-GST and inc-GST pricing. For example, if you have 25 employees at ex-GST pricing: 25 × $8.00 = $200.00/month ex-GST, or $230.00/month inc-GST. As your team grows or shrinks, your billing automatically adjusts.
Are prices in NZD or USD?
All prices are in NZD (New Zealand Dollars). You can toggle between prices excluding GST and including GST using the toggle switch at the top of the page. GST is charged at 15% as per New Zealand tax regulations.
What is the Casual Workforce plan?
The Casual Workforce plan is designed for businesses that primarily hire casual or on-call staff. Instead of billing based on your total active employee count, you're billed based on the number of unique employees who are rostered on during each monthly pay period. At the same $8.00/employee rate, you only pay for the staff who actually worked that month.
What counts as an "active employee"?
An active employee is anyone in your system who isn't archived. If you archive an employee (when they leave), they won't count toward your billing. You can unarchive them anytime if they return.
Is there a free trial?
Yes! We offer a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to start. After your trial, you can choose to continue with our simple monthly pricing.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. You can cancel your subscription at any time, and you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.
Are there any setup fees?
